The Timpson Bears brought home the 2A Division2 state championship. After making it to the semifinal round the past three years. The Bears started scoring their first touchdown with 7:25 to go in the first quarter. The Bears took a 21-0 lead into halftime. After fumbling the second half kickoff and Tolar scoring a touchdown with 8:10 to go in the 3rd quarter, the Bears reeled off 21 points in the third quarter to put the game away.  Timpson’s stud QB and CB Terry Bussey was even more spectacular than advertised. The A&M commit was a man among boys at AT&T. Passing for 311 yards and rushing for 155. He set two state championship records when he completed a 97-yard TD pass to Dacorian Johnson and then had a 93-yard TD run that also set a 2a state championship record.  The Bears added another TD early in the fourth quarter to make the final score 49-7. Not to be overshadowed was the Bear defense who shut down a high scoring Rattler offense. The Timpson secondary was exceptional, taking away everything Tolar threw at them.

Anna vs Tyler Chapel Hill

In what most thought might be a shootout turned out to be a defensive gem turned in by the Anna
Coyote defense. Shutting out the potent Tyler Chapel Hill Bulldog offense and winning the game 26-0.
It’s the first state championship ever for the Coyotes coached by Seth Parr.
The Coyotes led by sophomore sensation Ziondre Williams who came into today’s game with 2,757
yards passing, got Anna rolling completing five of five pass attempts in the Coyotes opening nine play 65
yard drive that ended when Anna scored on a 9 yard run by running back Edward Chumley.
The Coyotes added three more points with fifty-five seconds left in the first quarter when Cameron
Schight made 22-yard field goal. After Anna’s defense held the Bulldogs to a three an out to start the
second quarter Jabari Finnie returned a line drive punt 76 yards to the Chapel Hill 8-yard line. Four plays
later the Coyotes scored on a two-yard run by Chumley. Williams connected again on a 13-yard pass to
Chumley with 5:25 to go in the second quarter. Adding icing to an already outstanding defensive
performance by Anna was a safety when Chapel Hill was forced to punt from their own two-yard line.
The snap was high and mishandled by the Bulldog punter going out of the end zone adding two points to
the Coyote lead with just 36 seconds left to play in the first half.
Anna shut down the Bulldogs in the second half, taking away any hope Chapel Hill might have by holding
the Bulldogs four downs inside the seven-yard line and forcing a turnover on downs. The Coyotes played
conservatively throughout the second half letting the defense do the job to get the win.
Ziondre Williams ended up with 170 yards passing. He was 17 for 25 with one touchdown pass. Edward
Chumley ended the game with 71 yards rushing and 31 receiving for 102 total yards, two rushing
touchdowns and one receiving. Jabari Fennie had three receptions for 65 yards and 81 punt return
yards.
Special congratulations goes out to former Atlanta Rabbit and Linden – Kildare Tiger, Stanton Holland
who coaches defensive backs and special teams for Anna.
