Eva Alice Stewart, 97, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord Thursday, November 16, 2023, in a Linden, Texas adult care facility. Eva was born December 27, 1925, in Cass County, Texas, to James and Ida Thomas Dupree. She was a homemaker; life-long member of First Baptist Church, Atlanta where she taught the 5 year olds in Sunday school and was a member of the Senior Sunday school class. Eva enjoyed sewing for her grandchildren and was known for her hot water cornbread and apricot fried pies.
She was preceded in death by her husband Porter Stewart and by her parents.
She is survived by her children, Gary Stewart and wife Gayle of Atlanta, Kathy Stewart Long of Atlanta; grandchildren, Lana Paige and husband Bryan of Atlanta, David Stewart and wife Jennifer of Atlanta, Abbie Harper and husband Jon of Commerce; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Paige, Olivia Stewart, Emma Stewart, Kynsleigh Paige, Hudson Harper, Hayes Harper; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 19, 2023, in the Hanner Funeral Chapel with Dale Perkins officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 19, 2023, from 1 pm to 2 pm at the Hanner Funeral Chapel.
Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
Those wishing to memorialize Eva may make contributions to the First Baptist Church, Children’s and Youth fund.
